Job Description

Bath College is seeking a highly skilled SEN Learning Coach to provide exceptional support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across our vocational courses.

The successful candidate will work closely with our Inclusion Staff to deliver tailored support, promoting independence and using assistive technology to enable students to access their learning programme and achieve successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with initial, diagnostic, and other assessments to identify student needs.
  • Collaborate with Inclusion Staff to provide effective support, enabling students to fully access their learning programme and achieve successful outcomes.
  • Proactively identify strategies to meet student needs, promoting the use of assistive technology to enable independence.
  • Provide support to students, including 1:1 support, classroom support, out-of-class support, and on visits and study trips.
  • Monitor student progress, providing timely feedback on development, which may be included in reports to parents, carers, employers, and other external agencies using College systems.
  • Adapt and interpret teaching and instructions for students as appropriate.
  • Contribute to and implement Individual Learning Plans, monitoring achievement against targets, including EHCP outcomes.
  • Provide physical support to students where necessary, e.g., carrying and organising equipment, supporting learners using wheelchairs, toilet hoists, etc.
  • Assist students to use the toilet as appropriate and provide personal care where required.
  • Follow agreed weekly timetables, keeping Outlook calendar up to date.
  • Contribute to reviews of support as appropriate throughout the year.

Essential Requirements:

  • Maths and English GCSEs Grade A* to C or equivalent.
