Primate Keeper Assistant

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Animal Keeper to join our team at Twycross Zoo. As an Animal Keeper, you will be responsible for caring for our amazing animal collection, including all four species of great ape and other endangered species.

• Caring for the animals on our ape section, including all four species of great ape.
• Assisting with daily husbandry routines, including enclosure servicing, diet provision, and positive reinforcement training.
• Conducting observations on the relevant animals during the working day, reporting any unusual or concerning behavior to senior staff.
• Ensuring all relevant risk assessments, standard operating procedures, and policies are followed at all times.

• A BSc (or equivalent experience) in an animal or conservation-related subject is desirable.
• Knowledge of the relevant taxa, including their physiology, natural behaviors, and management practices in zoos.
• Experience of working with great apes in a zoo environment is essential.
• IT competence in MS Office and ZIMS is required.
