About the Role

Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking an experienced Indirect Tax Manager to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing indirect tax compliance and advisory activities across the EMEA region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage indirect tax risks, including filing accurate returns, managing enquiries and audits from local tax authorities, and meeting filing deadlines.
  • Prepare and review indirect tax returns for multiple jurisdictions across the EMEA region.
  • Conduct GL account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting of indirect taxes.
  • Prepare detailed VAT packs to support tax returns and ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • Liaise with local markets and finance functions to explain and agree on indirect tax returns.
  • Lead and develop a team of junior professionals to ensure timely and accurate production of tax returns.
  • Stay up-to-date with local regulatory changes and communicate their impact on indirect tax compliance.
  • Budget for indirect taxes and provide accurate forecasts for tax planning purposes.
  • Provide ad-hoc indirect tax advisory support as supply chain changes occur, ensuring compliance and optimizing tax efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient indirect tax processes, including order to cash and accounts payable.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional tax qualification (e.g., CTA) is highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience in indirect tax compliance and advisory, preferably within a multinational company or an accountancy practice.
  • Strong knowledge of EMEA indirect tax regulations and experience in preparing and reviewing tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex tax matters to non-tax professionals and local finance teams.
  • Proven experience in managing and developing a team of tax professionals.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of local regulatory changes and their impact on indirect tax compliance.
  • Proficiency in using tax software and ERP systems. Familiarity with OneSource Indirect Tax software and SAP is a plus.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
