Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Anaesthetics Consultant to join our team at Work Learn Live Blmk. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a comprehensive high-quality Anaesthesia service and will be an integral part of our Pre-Operative Assessment team.

Main Responsibilities
  • Join our Anaesthetics Department as part of a service development plan, where we are currently expanding our services to meet increasing demand.
  • Provide regular sessions to our Pre-Operative Assessment Service, which reviews and prepares patients ahead of surgery.
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team, including Consultant Anaesthetists, specialist nursing staff, a prescribing pharmacist, and an Elderly Care Consultant.
Requirements
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthetics or eligibility within six months of CCT accreditation.
  • FRCA or equivalent qualification.
  • Membership of the Pre-operative Association.
  • Qualification in Peri-operative Medicine.
Person Specification
  • Full GMC registration with a Licence to Practice.
  • Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register: CCT (or within six months of receipt of CCT at time of interview) or CESR (must be on Specialist Register at time of applying).
  • Understanding of clinical governance and ability to demonstrate ongoing CPD.
  • Experience of guideline appraisal.
  • Participation in relevant local audits.
  • Ability to interpret and apply clinical research.
  • Participation in relevant national audits.
Teaching and Leadership
  • Knowledge and ability to teach all grades of trainees and medical students.
  • Has attended Teaching the Teachers or similar course.
  • Ability to co-operate in a democratic team environment.
  • Flexible attitude, team player with good management skills.
  • Leadership Skills.
Clinical Governance and Personnel Circumstances
  • Able to demonstrate a broad understanding of the principles and elements of clinical governance.
  • Residence within a reasonable distance of the hospital for purposes of on-call emergencies.
  • Fit to undertake the role with satisfactory Occupational Health clearance.
  • Satisfactory DBS clearance.
