About the Role

Menzies LLP is seeking a highly skilled Tax Disputes and Disclosures Senior to join our team in London. As a key member of our Tax Dispute Resolution team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of tax disputes and disclosures, working closely with our TDD Tax Director to meet client service commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Confidently manage a portfolio of tax disputes and disclosures at all stages, from client onboarding to settlement.
  • Report to the TDD Director for each assignment, taking responsibility for complex tax disclosure cases, including COP9, WDF, and DDS.
  • Produce letters and reports to HMRC, including computational aspects, with minimal support from the TDD Director.
  • Negotiate with HMRC as appropriate.
  • Participate in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) settlement meetings.
  • Manage client relationships and provide relevant quotes to clients.
  • Understand client needs and communicate with them in layman's terms where appropriate.
  • Liaise directly with clients, contacts, and other parties to ensure timely provision of information and work is done according to desired timescales.
  • Responsible for controlling WIP on allocated jobs, including billing and debt collection.
  • Manage and delegate effectively to junior staff when required.
  • Assist in the production of technical material and/or marketing initiatives, such as writing articles, blogs, and updating the website.
  • Assist in the preparation and/or delivery of presentations and training courses.
  • Build good working relationships with internal and external colleagues, maximising cross-selling opportunities.
  • Keep up-to-date with developments in all relevant technical areas and the general economic climate.
About You

We are looking for an experienced Tax Disputes and Disclosures Senior with a strong background in tax dispute resolution, preferably with experience in HMRC or a similar team. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
