Finance Partner Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Partner to join our team at Newcastle City Council. As a Finance Partner, you will play a crucial role in supporting our schools with budget management, financial reporting, and procurement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on budget management and financial reporting to school Headteachers, Business Managers, and Governors.
  • Support schools in managing their budgets, including funding streams, staff roles, and structures.
  • Advise on procurement routes and help schools achieve best value from their budget.
  • Build strong relationships with schools and provide a supportive and approachable service.
  • Travel to various schools across our three authorities to provide on-site support.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of accounting and budget management processes in a school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Confidence in challenging and offering alternative approaches as a critical friend.
