Job Overview

We are seeking a Nuclear Safety Engineer to play a vital role in assessing risks for our nuclear clients, helping them achieve low carbon energy ambitions.

This is an opportunity to work with diverse clients from defence, nuclear generation, and new build, including innovative players from fusion and SMR markets.

About the Role

As a Nuclear Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for producing hazards assessments, authoring complex safety cases, and justifying critical decisions in the design, operation, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities.

You will also have the opportunity to work with multidisciplinary engineering teams, contribute to the wider technical community, and develop your leadership skills by mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain hazard assessments and safety cases for nuclear projects
  2. Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure project delivery meets regulatory requirements
  3. Mentor junior engineers to improve their skills and knowledge
  4. Contribute to the development of technical guidelines and best practices

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of nuclear safety principles and regulations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams
