Job Summary

GSK is seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our external diligence and assurance efforts. As the Global Director of External Diligence and Assurance, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy for animal welfare oversight of external partners and third-party research activities.

This role requires a strong understanding of animal welfare regulations and standards, as well as excellent leadership and management skills. You will be responsible for overseeing the conduct of thorough audits of external partner facilities, protocols, and practices, and for developing and implementing animal welfare due diligence standards, guidance documents, and SOPs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal science, veterinary medicine, or a related field, and will have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in animal welfare, veterinary medicine, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. They will also have a strong understanding of international animal welfare regulations and standards, and will be able to work successfully in a matrixed global environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for animal welfare oversight of external partners and third-party research activities.
  • Oversee the conduct of thorough audits of external partner facilities, protocols, and practices.
  • Develop and implement animal welfare due diligence standards, guidance documents, and SOPs.
  • Lead and mentor a team of animal welfare audit specialists.
  • Contribute to the creation, modification, and enforcement of GSK's animal welfare policies, standards, and procedures at external parties using animals on behalf of GSK.
  • Ensure external partners are informed of and comply with GSK's animal welfare standards.
Requirements
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. or DVM) in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Biology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in animal welfare, veterinary medicine, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Extensive experience conducting audits and assessments in a research environment.
  • Veterinary Board Certification Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM/ECLAM).
