About the Role:
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting pupils with diverse behavioural and mental health needs. An important part of this role will be delivering 1:1 interventions for children who require tailored support both in and out of the classroom. The perfect candidate for this role will be proactive and confident in their ability to support and manage complex behaviour as well as focusing on supporting pupils' mental health needs. The school prides itself on its inclusive ethos and therefore it is important that all pupils feel supported and cared for, where their behaviour and personal development is nurtured by a strong staff team. Prior knowledge, understanding and experience working with children with autism and ADHD will be beneficial, as well as any behaviour management training for complex behavioural needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support and guidance to students, promoting their academic and personal development
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to create comprehensive support plans for pupils with SEN, including autism and ADHD
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and carers, promoting effective communication and collaboration
  • Being proactive and adaptable, taking into account the needs of the individual and tailoring support and strategies accordingly

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEN
  • Strong understanding of different SEN and effective strategies for supporting students, including behaviour management strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers
  • Dedication to promoting inclusion and equality in education
