Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Expert to join our Purchasing Team at TTElectronics in Abercynon. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of suppliers, negotiating prices, and ensuring the procurement of materials and services in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain assigned supplier relations by selecting suppliers, negotiating prices, and ensuring the procurement of materials and services to agreed programmes.
- Analyse and negotiate supplier price changes to ensure cost savings and maintain market competitiveness.
- Conduct periodic commodity surveys to obtain price comparisons and evaluate market trends to develop new services and create cost savings.
- Select new and alternative sources of supply and collaborate with technical staff to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Ensure all purchasing requisitions and programmes are correct and reflect the current suppliers' lead times, keeping management and user departments informed of any changes that may impact work programmes.
- Identify potential problem areas and recommend changes to improve procurement processes and minimize risks.
- Minimise company exposure to material quantity (MOQ) and price increases, obtaining the relevant authority levels.
- Proactively liaise with other departments as necessary to forecast, plan, and meet demand to relevant quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with company codes of conduct and Health and Safety regulations.
- Administer and report on procurement activities as required.
- Negotiate payment terms, optimise payment schedules, and manage supplier relationships to drive cost savings and improve cash flow.
- Cultivate international trading relationships, handle imports, and stay up-to-date with legal awareness to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
- Identify and drive continuous improvements within procurement processes to achieve operational excellence.
- Monitor and control excess inventory, minimise waste, and reduce costs through effective stock management practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 3 years of experience in purchasing within a manufacturing or similar environment.
- A strategic thinker with innovative problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
- Excellent negotiation skills, with a proven track record of cost reduction through the use of strategic purchasing tools.
- Familiarity with ERP, MRP systems, and purchasing software.
- Strong supplier relationship management skills and excellent communication, both written and verbal.
- The ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively.
