Purchasing Manager Position Overview

Bennett And Game Recruitment is seeking a seasoned Purchasing Manager to join our team and lead the procurement function for our client, a leading importer of Power Tools & Machinery.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of procurement and management experience, with a minimum of 10 years in a management position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to drive cost savings and improve supply chain efficiency
  • Manage the selection and evaluation of new products for wholesale and retail trade
  • Collaborate with the buying, test, and marketing teams to ensure timely product launches
  • Oversee the testing and evaluation of new products with the in-house engineering team
  • Review and analyze Quality Control reports, new product evaluation reports, and warranty reports to inform business decisions
  • Work with the marketing team to identify products for promotional activity
  • Manage the flow of new products from import through the new product engineering team and private label development with marketing
  • Set trade and retail prices for all newly selected products based on company margin requirements
  • Monitor the retail market to ensure current and new products remain competitive
  • Select inbound shipping agencies

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of procurement and management experience (essential) at least 10 years in a management position
  • Entrepreneurial person with a can-do attitude
  • Experience of direct imports of finished consumer products from the Far East is essential
  • Ability to understand and influence key financial purchasing issues and senior team members
  • Ability to explain, present, and influence in a clear, concise, compelling, and consistent manner
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and delegate to achieve deadlines
  • Ability to make difficult decisions
  • Knowledge of the key market commodities, the processes, and the major suppliers
  • Proven track record of leading teams
  • Excellent, clear, and concise communication skills
