Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Engineer/Engineering Manager and be accountable for the completion of work, ensuring quality and timeliness. The role involves providing support for all maintenance tasks and projects, including day-to-day breakdowns, PPM, equipment updates, new installations, and building/infrastructure upgrades.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all PPM activities are completed on time, feeding back information to the Senior Engineer to improve the PPM system and activities.
  • Work closely with the Engineer on the opposite shift to ensure all handover of ongoing activities is carried out daily, sharing information and practices as required.
  • Provide knowledge and input into continuous improvement of plant, machinery, and maintenance activities, working with the Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager to identify long-running problems and suitable solutions.
  • Ensure equipment performance, reliability, and running costs are improved, providing input on replacement parts and consumables.
  • Undertake repairs to equipment in a safe and timely manner, ensuring Production is updated on progress.
  • Undertake remedial engineering works to equipment or site as instructed by the Engineering Manager.
  • Communicate risks of safety or failure of equipment or site to the Manager.
  • Work with the Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager to ensure contractors are working safely on site and adhering to site Health and Safety rules and procedures.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with Site Health and Safety instructions and the SSG Health and Safety manual, as well as relevant engineering standards.
  • Report any incidents, accidents, and near misses in accordance with Health and Safety Policies.
  • Ensure equipment provided for health and safety is maintained and used appropriately, and in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Ensure safe systems of work and best practice procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Ensure the Company's disciplines, rules, and standards are maintained.
  • Ensure company assets are maintained to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Maintain excellent communication between Production staff and co-workers.

Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Electrical Installation 18th Edition.
  • Electrical Installation Maintenance.
  • Mechanical Fabrication/Maintenance.
  • Electronic fault finding to component level.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships across all levels of management and staff and work as part of a team.
  • Must possess a recognised qualification relevant to the role (e.g. mechanical or electrical C&G).
  • Skilled in both Electrical and Mechanical trades: Apprenticeship with indentures preferred.
  • Preferred knowledge of other engineering disciplines including pneumatics, hydraulics, steam systems.
