Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (SEMH)

Leader Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team at a co-education secondary school provision for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and patient individual who can provide support to students with SEMH needs. The ideal candidate will have experience working with challenging behaviour and be able to work closely with complex students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to students with SEMH needs in a secondary school setting
  • Assist in lessons and activities to promote student engagement and learning
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized support plans
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, teachers, and other staff members
Requirements
  • DBS on the update service or be willing to get one
  • Patient and understanding with challenging behaviour
  • Adaptability and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students
  • A good knowledge of EHCPs
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
