In this key role, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes within your specialty. You will also manage and train any demi-chef de parties or commis working with you, contribute to developing new dishes and menus with the sous chef and head chef, and ensure that you and your team maintain high standards of food hygiene and follow health and safety regulations.
You will play a vital role in monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins, ensuring the success of the kitchen and all hotel food and beverage operations.
Requirements and QualificationsTo excel in this role, you will need:
- Great cooking skills and a deep understanding of different ingredients, flavors, and cooking techniques.
- The ability to work well under pressure and have a cool head.
- The capacity to delegate tasks appropriately to your team members and possess strong organisational skills to manage your section effectively.
- A commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, adhering to food safety regulations and using kitchen equipment and cleaning products properly.
- An understanding of profit margins to ensure the kitchen runs efficiently and profitably.
