Job Summary

Empower Children's Health with Us

In this role, you will work with children and young people under 16 with diverse respiratory needs, collaborating closely with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure effective communication. You will provide essential advice, support, and education to patients and their families, advocating for child-focused, family-centered care. Whether engaging with patients in the outpatient clinic or on the children's ward, you'll be an integral part of our dedicated paediatric respiratory team.

Our cross-site team includes 3 Consultants and 2 Band 7 Nurse Specialists, all committed to offering comprehensive support and ensuring a robust point of contact and escalation.

Please note that we can only consider applications from individuals with a live NMC registration or UK nursing students awaiting their PIN, as we are currently unable to support OSCE.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Communicate training and competence-related information to patients and their families about symptom management, self-care, and respiratory support networks.
  • Support Consultant outpatient clinics by teaching optimal inhaler techniques, measuring lung function, and escalating concerns about patient respiratory assessments.
  • Liaise with Emergency Department staff and children's ward link nurses on referral pathways into the respiratory service.
  • Assist in developing and utilizing patient information leaflets and posters to promote respiratory health awareness and seasonal information.

About Us

We are dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusivity within our workforce and warmly welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, with a particular emphasis on encouraging those from disabled, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, as well as candidates from our local area.

As part of our commitment to supporting our employees, we offer a range of benefits including:

  • Generous annual leave entitlement starting at 27 days and increasing to 29 days after five years of service and 33 days after 10 years of service, in addition to the national Bank Holidays (pro-rata for part-time staff);
  • Membership of the NHS Pension Scheme;
  • Flexible working opportunities;
  • Enhanced hourly rates for unsociable hours, night shifts, weekends, and bank holidays;
  • Opportunities for career development and training to help you progress in your role;
  • Wellbeing support and activities to promote a healthy work environment;
  • Access to our in-house physiotherapy service;
  • On-site canteens offering subsidised meals;
  • Subsidised staff parking (currently free);
  • Free Stagecoach Bus Travel to and from work within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

We strive to create a supportive and inclusive workplace where employees feel valued and empowered to excel in their roles. Our team is committed to providing high-quality care to our patients and their families, and we are looking for like-minded individuals to join us.
