Head of Safer Custody and Rehabilitation

As a key member of the Mitie team, you will have a pivotal role in maintaining compliance with contractual requirements, company policies, and HMPPS standards in your position as Head of Safer Custody and Rehabilitation. You will oversee a dedicated team, including the Departmental Senior Manager for Safer Custody and various Prisoner Custody Managers.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering services across the Care and Separation Unit, Safer Custody and Violence Reduction, Equality & Diversity, and more.
  • Leading the strategy to cultivate a safe and decent environment that promotes a 'Rehabilitative & Restorative Culture'.
  • Supporting and motivating senior managers to ensure effective service delivery throughout the prison.
  • Engaging in incident management and representing the prison at a senior level within the wider community.

As part of our Senior Management Team, you will take on additional duties that contribute to the prison's effective operation, driving performance to exceed all contractual and performance measures, including KPIs and CDIs.

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience in a prison custodial or secure environment in a senior or strategic role.
  • Experience working in a safer custody environment.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience managing performance delivery.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and juggle competing priorities.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management skills at a senior level.
  • Basic to intermediate IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of relevant prison legislation, audit processes, and incident management experience.
  • Qualifications equivalent to Level 3 or above, including A levels and NVQs.
