METRO HORT GROUP, INC. is seeking an experienced Garden Manager to oversee the establishment and maintenance of naturalistic gardens on a private 600-acre estate in Millerton, NY. The successful candidate will have a strong background in gardening and maintenance of trees, shrubs, and perennials, as well as experience with horticultural tools and machinery.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain naturalistic gardens in pond, meadow, and woodland areas
- Monitor and control pests and diseases
- Maintain compost and mulch
- Manage deer fence and paths
- Supervise contractors for tasks like snow plowing and tree work
Requirements:
- A recognized horticultural qualification
- Extensive experience in large-scale private estate gardens or botanical gardens
- A high standard of workmanship and horticulture
- Experience with horticultural tools and machinery
- Flexibility, reliability, and ability to work as part of a team
The estimated salary for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 per year based on experience and qualifications.
