Swansea University is a research-led institution that fosters innovation and discovery. The university offers an excellent quality of life, making it a desirable workplace for professionals worldwide.
We thrive on exploration and excellence in teaching and research, creating enriching careers with a perfect work-life balance. Our campuses are located by the waterfront, allowing us to maintain a unique cultural environment.
The role involves establishing the feasibility of a novel low-cost technology: capacitive deionisation (CDI) water treatment systems. This project requires direct current (DC) power, which can be supplied by solar photovoltaic panels with battery banks. CDI units are suitable for remote rural locations with ample sunlight but no access to a power grid.
The specific responsibilities include:
- Designing lab and pilot CDI water treatment systems using Solidworks and ANSYS.
- Ensuring the day-to-day operation of CDI electrode production and system testing.
- Collaborating with Chemical Engineering research and/or teaching facilities, working closely with staff, students, and other faculties as required.
The estimated salary for this position is around £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience. We offer a competitive package with opportunities for growth and professional development.
The university values diversity and equality, striving to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome. We aim to promote Welsh language skills among our staff and encourage applications from diverse backgrounds.
