About the Role

The Powys Teaching Health Board is seeking a highly skilled Specialist Practitioner to join our Children's Neurodevelopmental Service. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in the diagnostic assessment of autism, ADHD, and related conditions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the coordination and delivery of a high-quality specialist service to children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary Paediatric team providing assessment to children and young people for Powys Teaching Health Board under the supervision of the Clinical Lead Practitioner.
  • Develop and implement innovative service pathways for children, young people, and their families who have either an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or an Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Person Specification

  • Registered Practitioner qualification relevant to speciality (SALT, OT, Nurse)
  • Significant experience of working as a specialist with children with Neurodevelopmental differences
  • Portfolio of evidence demonstrating own personal development
  • Post-qualifying experience working with Children and Young People
  • Knowledge of Neurodevelopmental disorders underpinned by theory and practice
  • Robust knowledge of local protocols and national policy regarding Children and Young People
  • Working knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection
  • Experience of working in mental health or specialist services including ADHD and ASD
  • Ability to assess and implement a range of evidenced-based therapeutic interventions
  • Proficient in multi-agency partnership working
  • Demonstrate autonomous working and management of own caseload
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Working knowledge of statutory and voluntary sectors with regard to mental health and well-being

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Postgraduate/registration learning in Neurodevelopment Disorders
  • ASD assessment tool training ADOS
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification or willingness to work towards, if applicable
