Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Tooling Design Engineer to join our team at Limbs & Things Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining tooling solutions for our production needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tooling Design and Development: Design and develop tooling solutions for our production needs, ensuring that they meet our quality and safety standards.
  • Collaboration with Production Team: Work closely with our production team to ensure that tooling solutions are designed and developed to meet their needs.
  • Design and Development of Jigs and Fixtures: Design and develop jigs and fixtures to support our production processes.
  • Prototyping and Simulation: Validate designs through prototyping and simulation, including mould flow analysis.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and solve tooling design issues, ensuring that our production processes are efficient and effective.
  • Project Scheduling: Manage project schedules to ensure that trials of new tools and processes are carried out to agreed timelines.
  • Collaboration with Design Team: Work with our design team to evaluate and validate products after design changes.
  • Tooling Maintenance: Ensure that existing tooling is maintained and updated to meet our quality and safety standards.
  • Production Work Instructions: Create production work instructions for new tools and ensure that operators are trained to work instructions.
  • Commissioning and Maintenance: Support the engineering workshop in commissioning new tools and maintaining existing tools.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least 3 years' experience working in injection moulding tool design or similar.
  • Education: Engineering degree or a recognized engineering apprenticeship.
  • Skills: Good working knowledge of injection moulding processes, experience using 3D modelling software, and prior experience with mould flow analysis.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of manufacturing techniques used to produce injection tooling, experience working with tool makers, and a broad understanding of small to large-scale production and manufacturing.
  • Soft Skills: Strong project management abilities, excellent communication and teamworking skills, and a creative and progressive thinking approach.
