About the Role



We are seeking an experienced Cancer Pathway Coordinator to join our dynamic team in Cancer Services. As a key member of the department, you will engage with and work alongside Clinical Divisions, senior medical staff, nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, and partner organizations within the Network across the patient journey.



The successful candidate will possess excellent IT skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and a good working knowledge of cancer pathways and waiting times within an acute Trust setting.



Key Responsibilities


  1. Navigate and track patients along their pathway, coordinating all hospital appointments and investigations through to treatment.
  2. Support the Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, which are held on a regular basis and where individual patient management plans are discussed.
  3. Ensure effective cooperation between Clinical Divisions and other departments involved in delivering cancer services.
  4. Use the cancer management information system for recording clinical and performance data.
  5. Proactively manage waiting times for individual cancer patients.
  6. Support service improvement to streamline the patient journey and improve the quality of patient care.
  7. C Coordinate MDT meetings in accordance with National Cancer Peer Review standards.
  8. Evaluate and contribute to the development of this role and the Cancer Pathway Administrator role.


Requirements


  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate with a wide range of different professional groups (both clinical and non-clinical).
  • Effective team player, able to work with people at all levels within the Trust.
  • Demonstrable evidence of working with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to convey complex information to colleagues.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Possess effective listening skills, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Knowledge of multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Effective judgement skills for decision-making.
  • Ability to identify problems and quickly report/act on them.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work to deadlines, and manage own time effectively.
  • Planning and organization of complex tasks, including MDT meetings, data submission schedules, and organizing access to data sources in a timely manner.


Salary: £25,500 - £33,000 per annum, depending on experience
