About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our team at Ecclesiastical Insurance Group. As an Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in developing, negotiating, and profitably underwriting new and existing business within your authority and in line with our company strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and negotiate new and existing business within your authority and in line with our company strategy.
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage your work to deliver agreed objectives and meet service level agreements (SLAs) to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Use effective communication methods to support our right-first-time approach and maintain successful internal and external relationships.
  • Provide training and referral support to underwriting assistants and customer administration support colleagues.
  • Act on individual audit results and agreed action plans within agreed deadlines to improve your performance.
  • Understand and operate within regulatory frameworks and identify and escalate any risks to the business.
  • Identify and address complaints in line with company policy.
  • Improve the quality of underwriting and risk selection in support of delivering financial objectives.
  • Expand your technical and niche knowledge through formal and informal training, networking, and industry research.
Requirements
  • Qualified Cert CII or commitment to achieve within an agreed timescale.
  • Commercial underwriting experience, particularly in property and liability.
  • Market, industry, and company knowledge.
  • A proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Appropriate IT skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
