Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Hays Engineering. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with large machinery, mechanical and electrical systems, and PLC programming.

About the Role:
This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work in a fast-paced sawmill environment. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and optimization of equipment to achieve safe and efficient production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operation, installation, and maintenance of sawmill machinery, including saws and conveyors.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment.
  • Assist with the optimization of the production process and machinery to improve throughput and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure all machinery complies with safety regulations and standards.
  • Provide technical support to other sawmill personnel, including guidance on the safe and efficient operation of machinery.
  • Maintain records of maintenance, repairs, and equipment performance.
  • Work collaboratively with external contractors and suppliers as needed.
  • Contribute to the selection and procurement of tools, materials, and spare parts.
  • Participate in training and development to keep up-to-date with technological advancements in sawmill machinery and control systems.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with large industrial machinery.
  • Electrical Engineering bias.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic knowledge of PLC programming (beneficial but not essential).
  • Ability to understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to machinery operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
