We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Epidemiologist to join our team in the Vaccine Preventable Disease Programme at Public Health Wales. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in developing and managing aspects of surveillance and epidemiological analysis on vaccine preventable diseases, vaccination programmes, and acute respiratory infections.
Key Responsibilities- Develop methods and processes to maintain existing surveillance systems and set up new ones using innovative data sources.
- Work with senior epidemiologists to implement emerging methods in data science, such as data linkage and machine learning.
- Collaborate with microbiologists to develop new surveillance methods and support field epidemiology activities.
- Use advanced data science and statistical methods to define, interpret, and provide solutions to complex public health problems.
- Frame problems in epidemiological terms, analyse complex data sets, and report findings to stakeholders, including the public, health professionals, and government agencies.

Requirements- Degree in a scientific, computing, or health-related subject.
- Masters qualification or equivalent experience in public health areas, such as epidemiological methods, public health, microbiology, statistics, or data science.
- Substantial post-graduate experience of relevant scientific work, including experience of working with large and complex databases.
- Understanding of current scientific and/or epidemiological advances.
- Experience of training other staff groups and working with SAIL.
