Job Title: Security Operations Center Specialist

Location: Edinburgh – Onsite

At abrdn, we are committed to enabling our clients to effectively plan, save, and invest for their future needs.

The Security Operations Center (SaRCC) at abrdn delivers a comprehensive technical security framework, manages the operational environment, and acts as the central communication hub for global incident management. The SaRCC functions continuously throughout the year and is overseen by a Controller and Operator, who report to the SaRCC Specialist.

The role of the Security Operations Center Specialist encompasses the operation, monitoring, and provision of technical security assistance across the abrdn portfolio utilizing the Integrated Technical Security Systems within the SaRCC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the SaRCC Controller and SaRCC Specialist.
  • Guide and oversee Security Officer personnel.
  • Maintain proficiency in Technical Security and Building Management Systems.
  • Facilitate training and development initiatives for staff.
  • Support operational workflows and protocols.
  • Comply with Quality Assurance standards.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Assist in Incident Management and Command and Control operations.
  • Receive and respond to priority incidents effectively.
  • Assess and prioritize incoming alarms and communications.
  • Ensure competency in technical systems.
  • Employ technical systems and strong communication skills effectively.
  • Provide clear directives as necessary.
  • Compile operational management and incident documentation.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in Operations or Security Control Room settings.
  • Understanding of Incident Management procedures.
  • Familiarity with Access Control, CCTV, and Intruder Detection Systems.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Capability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Self-driven and motivated.

Desirable Skills

  • Prior experience in security operations, law enforcement, or military service.
  • Experience in information collection and analysis.
