Job Title: Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Colposcopy Lead

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary team as a Colposcopy Lead. The successful candidate will be a certified colposcopist with the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSSCP) and have experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic department.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Colposcopy service, working closely with the Lead Consultant to develop colposcopy services across UHD.
  • Take the lead for Colposcopy demand and capacity modelling and business planning for the service, including the development of business cases and working in partnership with the General Manager and Deputy General Manager to inform business planning and service planning with the relevant commissioning bodies.
  • Act as a source of expertise and knowledge for patients, carers, and health professionals as well as other agencies involved in the provision of the colposcopy service.
  • Plan and manage complete clinical episodes of care, working in partnership with others, delegating and referring as appropriate, to optimise health outcomes and resource use, as well as providing direct support to patients and carers.
Person Specification:
  • Professional registration
  • BSSCP certified colposcopist
  • Masters level advanced clinical practice
  • Recognised teaching or mentoring qualification
  • Budget management
  • Recognition as advanced practitioner
  • Non-medical prescriber
Experience:
  • Experience working as a band 6 within specialty
  • Participation in research and critical appraisal
  • Managing defined caseload of patients
  • Application of advanced clinical skills in practice with colposcopy and gynae
  • Experience of teaching, mentoring, and developing staff
  • Patient education and empowerment
  • Audit
  • Experience of service and practice development and managing change
  • Developing policies and protocols
  • Working in partnership with all levels of staff
  • Experience of leading & developing people
  • Experience of working across organisational boundaries
  • Teaching staff from other professions

Technical Skills:
  • Advanced clinical skills, such as assessing patient's physical status requiring precision, accuracy, dexterity.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Knowledge:
  • Demonstrable theoretical and practical knowledge of gynaecology specialty common presentations.
  • Conversant in relevant specialty Advanced practice developments at national/local levels
  • Trust policies/procedures
  • Legal, ethical, and professional issues of advanced practice
