Are you a skilled mechanical engineer looking for a challenging role in nuclear projects? We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team at the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) as an Apprentice Mechanical and CNC Engineer.

About the Role

We are a leading organization in the UK's nuclear deterrent, and we are looking for talented individuals to contribute to our success. As an Apprentice Mechanical and CNC Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, testing, and substantiating the safety and effectiveness of our nuclear systems.

The Team

You will be part of our Nuclear Physics Package (NPP) Engineering Group, which is responsible for delivering innovative engineering solutions to support our mission. Our team is collaborative, supportive, and passionate about what we do, and we offer a range of opportunities for career development and growth.

Responsibilities
  • Designing and developing mechanical systems and components using 3D CAD software
  • Working with cross-functional teams to deliver engineering solutions that meet customer requirements
  • Conducting Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and substantiating engineering designs for safety and performance
  • Maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy in all work
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with 3D CAD software and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
