Environmental Scientist

RSK Group is seeking an ambitious Environmental Scientist to join our team in Bridgend, UK.

We offer a wide range of environmental protection and risk reduction services to various industries and clients across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform technical tasks under senior site colleagues, project managers, or line managers.
• Manage the sample processing system, including sample room, dispatch/collection, containers, laboratory liaison, and logging.
• Provide technical and project administrative support to senior colleagues, including fieldwork, report writing, subcontractor communications, and cost appraisal.
• Complete allocated tasks on time and to budget, as requested by senior colleagues.
• Conduct project fieldwork, including emergency response mitigation works, spill and ground investigation techniques, sample collection and logging, supervision of subcontractors, liaison with clients, groundwater and ambient air monitoring.
• Compile technical reports, prepare letters, and general correspondence.
• Carry out desk-based research.
• Prepare site plans.
• Maintain routine care, maintenance, and calibration of field equipment and company assets.
• Adhere to RSK Group management systems, including site-specific and point-of-work health and safety risk assessments and method statements.
• Maintain accurate site notes and excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Maintain positive relations with current clients and interested parties by ensuring a high standard of work and presentation.
• Effectively manage information and occasionally write reports.
• Perform additional work necessary to meet business needs.

Additional Information:

• We operate a 24/7 response service for our clients, requiring occasional work outside normal operating hours.
• Travel may be required to cover business needs throughout England, Scotland, and Wales.
• Occasional overnight stays may be necessary.
• Incident response training is provided, and other training and development opportunities are available.
• Collaborative working opportunities with other Response and Remediation businesses within the RSK Group.

Qualifications/Experience:

• Science-based degree (essential)
• Full, clean driving license (essential)
• Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office (essential)
• Basic project management experience (desirable)
• CSCS (desirable)
• First aid (desirable)
• Working towards membership of a professional body (desirable)
• Relevant previous experience an advantage (desirable)
