Newcastle upon Tyne, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom Teaching Personnel Full time

We are working with successful secondary schools and colleges in the Newcastle area to fill support staff vacancies. Many of our client schools have expressed interest in hiring Psychology graduates for these roles, as they often possess an understanding of behaviour supported by academic theory, as well as a focus on well-being and additional learning needs.

These types of roles offer the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a school setting, which can be beneficial for future career progression into teaching or working with children and young people. For example, this experience may be valuable for those interested in pursuing Education Psychology courses or clinical courses.

Key Aspects:
  • Gaining more experience and assisting at a supportive secondary school.
  • A full-time Graduate TA position is available from January 6th.
  • The possibility of starting sooner if applicable and available.
What We Look For:
  • Effective communication skills to work with other staff and students, monitoring progress and development.
  • A composed individual who can manage challenging behaviour and situations.
  • Transferable skills and a genuine interest in supporting young people with SEMH needs.

In this role, you will work with various students and assist in small group interventions, providing support to identified students with relevant subject material. If you have specific experience tutoring or supporting young people, please highlight this on your application and CV, as it will be highly desirable to the school.

All applicants must possess the necessary qualifications and training for this role. Please visit our website for further details.

Additional Benefits:
  • An estimated salary of £22,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • 7% statutory holiday pay.
  • A temporary position with potential for permanent placement at a later date.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All workers undergo safeguarding checks in accordance with DfE statutory guidance 'Keeping Children Safe in Education', which may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.

We provide all registered candidates with free child protection and prevent duty training. A valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for all candidates.
