Job Description:

Clinical Nutrition Specialist Role Overview

The Clinical Nutrition Specialist will work closely with our team of healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive nutrition services to adult dialysis patients. This role requires a strong understanding of nutritional science and its application in clinical settings. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and possess a high level of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate on-going nutritional status to determine appropriate nutrition intervention(s) and recommendations.
  • Develop individualized Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for patients based on reported lab results and individualized goals.
  • Select and develop nutrition education and counseling based on individualized patient needs.
  • Monitor nutritional status, laboratory values, dialysis adequacy, adherence to diet and response to nutrition-related medications and therapy.
  • Evaluate outcomes, identifies contributing factors and document interventions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a similar area and registration as a Registered Dietitian.
  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook required as well as functional proficiency with DaVita specific applications within 60 days of employment.
  • Travel up to 30% as needed to meet patient needs, attend meetings and trainings, and provide cross-coverage support for the qualified renal dietitian overseeing patient assessments and POC.
