Job Description:

A Principal Fire and Explosion Safety Engineer is sought by Morson Talent to support a range of Fire & Explosion Safety Engineering tasks in a submarine manufacturing environment. This role offers a competitive salary of £70,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience.

The key responsibilities include:
  • Taking a lead role across Fire & Explosion Safety Engineering (DSEAR) risk assessments and compliance activities for new and existing facilities.
  • Co-ordinating the work programs of team members to meet strategic explosion safety objectives.
  • Leading the on-going development of the fire safety team across various projects for buildings and submarine platforms.
  • Mentoring and developing engineers within the team.
  • Monitoring, recording and reporting against key performance indicators for Explosion Safety through various stakeholder groups.
  • Developing, producing and maintaining Explosion Safety process documentation and management strategies.
  • Producing and reviewing explosion strategies and risk assessments.
  • Reviewing and supporting commissioning strategies for explosion safety systems.
  • Producing proposals for packages of work.
  • Reviewing engineering documentation relevant to Explosion Safety.
  • Providing support to regulatory inspections.
  • Chairing explosion safety workshops and working groups.

Essential Skills:
  • Working in an explosion safety engineering environment and applying various methods of hazard analysis.
  • DSEAR risk assessment production including hazard identification and analysis preferably from a high-hazard industry.
  • A thorough understanding of Hazardous Area Classification (HAC).
  • Proven track record in implementing business processes to achieve strategic objectives.
  • PASSION FOR SAFETY AND OPEN TO DEVELOPING NEW SKILLS AND UNDERTAKING FURTHER TRAINING IN EXPLOSION RISK MANAGEMENT.
