Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our Mental Health Support Team as a Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner. This is an exciting opportunity to work with children and young people, providing mental health support in schools across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be part of the Mental Health Schools Team (MHST), delivering high-quality, evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate anxiety, low mood, and behavioural difficulties. The role will involve working under supervision to develop clinical competencies and knowledge in order to proficiently practice as an Education Mental Health Practitioner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver low-intensity evidence-based interventions for children and young people
  • Work with schools to promote whole-school change and participation
  • Develop skills in assessment, consultation, and auditing
  • Learn to adapt clinical practice to accommodate diversity and increase access to evidence-based psychological therapies
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with a strong commitment to working from an anti-oppressive approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to travel between schools, the office, and other locations in the BNSSG area. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience working with children and young people, preferably in educational, social care, or health provider settings.
