Slough, Slough, United Kingdom Academics Ltd Full time £83 - £95

Are you a Psychology graduate looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children with diverse needs? Do you have a passion for creating inclusive and engaging learning environments?

A specialist school in Slough is seeking a highly motivated Learning Support Specialist to join their team. In this role, you will work closely with children who face challenges such as autism, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing issues, physical disabilities, and communication barriers.

Your primary responsibility will be to develop a deep understanding of each student's cognitive, emotional, and behavioral needs. You will learn to support them effectively, identifying learning obstacles and triggers while applying psychological insights in the classroom.

You'll work with students in small groups or one-on-one, fostering a supportive and engaging classroom environment where every child feels safe and included. This role is an excellent opportunity for Psychology graduates seeking hands-on experience working with young people facing challenges.

As a Learning Support Specialist, you will collaborate with psychologists, therapists, counselors, and speech and language specialists, gaining practical exposure that will set you apart from other graduates. This role is also valuable for those considering a future in teaching or education.

The ideal candidate is friendly, proactive, and genuinely interested in Special Educational Needs (SEN). Previous experience working with children, whether in sports, babysitting, or other informal settings, is an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop individualized support plans for students with diverse needs
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive support services
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Support students in developing life skills and achieving academic success

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related field
  • Prior experience working with children with special needs (desired but not required)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Benefits:

  • Competitive daily rate of £83-£95 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
  • Long-term temporary contract with potential for permanent position
  • Full-time hours, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
