Job Description

Next-Link is seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our Biomarker Assay Sciences team in the Precision Medicine function. This is a 12-month contract position commencing in August 2024.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, optimization, and validation of ligand binding assays/immunoassays for biomarkers and gene therapy targets. This will involve working closely with the non-regulatory LBA biomarker team to support the progression of novel drug candidates through various stages of discovery and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize ligand binding assays/immunoassays for biomarkers and gene therapy targets
  • Validate assay performance and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Collaborate with the non-regulatory LBA biomarker team to support the progression of novel drug candidates
  • Transfer methods to external partners as required
  • Maintain laboratory equipment to high standards

Requirements

  • BSc, MSc, or PhD in a biological discipline
  • Minimum # years of experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Proven experience running ligand binding assays/immunoassays (e.g. ELISA, MSD, ELLA, Gyros, Singulex, Simoa/Quanterix)
  • Demonstrable skills in development and validation of such assays
  • Ability to solve complex analytical challenges
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Adaptable to changing project and organizational priorities
  • Willingness to learn new skills

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in a bioanalytical laboratory in a biotech or pharmaceutical drug discovery and development environment
  • Biomarker assay development experience
  • Awareness of the principles of fit-for-purpose assay validation to meet a biomarker context of use within the drug discovery and development environment
  • Experience of method transfer (e.g. to external providers, collaborators)
  • Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams/external partners
