Credit Risk Manager Job Description

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to join Barclays' Credit Risk team as a Credit Risk Manager in UK Corporate Banking. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing and evaluating credit risks across a diverse portfolio of Corporate Bank clients.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Analysis of financial data, including income, assets, liabilities, credit history, and economic trends, to determine the risk of default.
  2. Monitoring of existing loan portfolios to identify potential credit deterioration or early warning signs of default.
  3. Recommendation of loan approvals, rejections, or adjustments based on risk evaluation and bank lending policies.
  4. Development and implementation of credit risk mitigation strategies, including collateral management, loan restructuring, and workout plans.
  5. Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  6. Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  7. Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  8. Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  9. Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.

Requirements

  1. Financial risk analysis (balance sheet, P&L and cash flow) of clients including supporting the credit approval process.
  2. Assessment of business and financial risks.
  3. Support in financial modelling or stress testing in support of requests/transactions.
  4. Analysis of the credit risk across a wide range of corporate and investment banking products.
  5. Determining/recommending and monitoring of ratings and other relevant credit parameters.
  6. Maintaining the respective internal data systems and support internal/external reporting.
  7. Leading credit processes for complex transactions.
  8. Experience in corporate credit, project finance and/or leverage finance.
  9. Project management and proficiency on credit risk systems.
  10. Proactively contributing to strategic initiatives and projects within the risk function.
