Compliance Officer Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to manage and oversee various compliance functions within our company.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring adherence to the BRC standard, managing technical specifications, drafting policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and leading audits across different compliance areas.

This is a part-time role, working 30 hours per week over 4 or 5 days, with 2 days office-based and the rest working hybrid.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. BRCGS Standard Management: Ensure continuous compliance with the BRC Global Standard, develop, update, and maintain compliance-related policies and procedures.
  2. Product & Supplier Compliance: Oversee the management of technical specifications for products, handle supplier approvals, and ensure they meet required compliance standards.
  3. FSC Compliance: Manage Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) compliance, including internal training and audit preparation.
  4. EPR & Waste Reporting: Monitor and audit compliance with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) packaging regulations, manage waste return processes, and related compliance obligations.
  5. Risk Assessments & Audits: Complete regular risk assessments, be an active member of the hazard and risk assessment team, and conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Requirements:
  1. Experience in a compliance or quality assurance role, ideally within a manufacturing or packaging environment.
  2. Strong knowledge of BRCGS standards and FSC compliance.
  3. Experience in drafting policies, procedures, and conducting training.
  4. Ability to conduct audits and manage risk assessments.
