We are seeking an experienced Sustainability and Carbon Team Leader to join our Manchester office. As a highly skilled specialist in sustainability and carbon, you will play a key role in advising clients on how to decarbonise their activities while increasing performance across other areas of sustainability.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will lead on carbon, sustainability, and net zero for our existing portfolio of major infrastructure projects and strategic clients. They will also be responsible for leading the development of innovative carbon and sustainability strategies, designs, solutions, and management plans.

You will work collaboratively with other teams across the business, at the strategic level as well as through the lifecycle of major infrastructure projects. Your expertise will enable you to create positive sustainable change for high-profile clients throughout the UK.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead on carbon, sustainability, and net zero for existing portfolio projects and clients
  • Develop innovative carbon and sustainability strategies, designs, solutions, and management plans
  • Project manage and coordinate sustainability inputs on major infrastructure projects
  • Represent the company at external networks and build personal, team, and company reputation
  • Lead bid proposals, author submissions, and ensure win themes are retained
  • Lead the Manchester/Northern team of sustainability and carbon specialists, providing line management duties and supporting team development
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level in an environmental or engineering-related discipline and chartered with a recognised relevant professional body. You will have prior experience and up-to-date knowledge in areas such as carbon accounting, decarbonisation/net zero roadmaps, sustainability assessments, whole life carbon, and sustainability reporting.

You will possess strong report writing, communication, and presentation skills tailored to various audiences, seniorities, and technical competencies. Understanding of UK sustainability and carbon guidance and standards used within infrastructure and corporate reporting is essential.
