Our 18-bed Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) serves as the hub for paediatric critical care across the southwest region of England, delivering a full range of tertiary services. We specialise in a variety of paediatric subspecialties, including:

Supporting Our Region
Our commitment to regional healthcare goes beyond the walls of our hospital. Through our WATCh (Wales and West Acute Transport for Children) retrieval service, we extend expert care to children across the region, ensuring they receive timely, life-saving interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate prescribed treatment and care for patients and their families.
- Communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality with patient's carers and the multi-disciplinary team.
- Act as a professional role model setting standards of practice.
- Promote clinical effectiveness and opportunities for teaching junior colleagues and students.
- Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients.
- Administer medicines in accordance with Trust policy.
- Develop clinical skills and participate in continuous professional development.
- Provide accurate timely contemporary records of care and treatment in line with Trust record keeping policy and NMC.
