About the Role

Maidstone Borough Council is seeking a skilled Planner to join our team as an Enforcement Specialist. As a key member of our Planning team, you will be responsible for enforcing planning regulations and ensuring compliance with our policies.

With a strong background in planning enforcement and development management, you will be able to appraise and evaluate enforcement complaints and breaches of planning control. You will also be responsible for assessing these against policy and other material planning considerations to formulate recommendations and drafting enforcement notices where appropriate.

This is a permanent, full-time position with opportunities for extensive home working under our Council's new hybrid working policies. We encourage all types of vocational and technical training & qualifications, including management and leadership programmes.

About You

You will preferably have a degree or equivalent in Town and Country Planning with eligibility for membership of the RTPI. You will have an understanding of Planning Legislation and experience dealing with complex planning enforcement issues. Additionally, this role is customer-facing, so the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is an essential element of the role. To hold a full UK driving licence.
