As a Security Officer - Prison Escort, you will be responsible for escorting contractors as they carry out maintenance work around the prison, visitor and toolkit checks, main gate duties and vehicle searches. You will also ensure the safety of visitors when assisting them around the site, while making sure no unauthorized items enter the Prison.

Shift pattern: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4.30pm (1-hour lunch break). 37 hours per week, with opportunities for overtime.

This is a long-term temporary contract on an ongoing basis.

You will receive, on the job, paid training. This role also gives you a unique opportunity to see the everyday running of prison life and could well lead to long-term employment opportunities with the prison service as an OSG or Prison Officer.

Key responsibilities:

  • Escort contractors as they carry out maintenance work around the prison
  • Visitor and toolkit checks
  • Main gate duties
  • Vehicle searches
  • Ensure the safety of visitors when assisting them around the site

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Security conscious
  • Practical
  • Pass a security clearance procedure
  • Provide references to cover the last 3 years of employment and character references to cover any gaps in employment
