About Shelter

">We provide expert advice and support services through our helpline, online services, and network of local hubs. We help millions of people struggling with bad housing or homelessness each year. Our campaigning and policy work aims to tackle the root causes of the current housing emergency.
">We're looking for a high-calibre adaptable Trainee Solicitor to join our team. As a Trainee Solicitor, you will work under the housing and public law legal aid contracts and support Shelter's test cases and interventions.
">Key responsibilities include developing and applying the skills needed as a qualified solicitor:

- Interviewing and advising">
- Legal research">
- Negotiation">
You'll develop your skills through a mixture of completing work and tasks by yourself, assisting others, and observing experienced practitioners. The postholder will support solicitors and the team using their legal skills to challenge discriminatory practices relating to housing and create system change.
">The estimated salary for this position is around £25,000-£30,000 per annum, depending on experience and location. This role requires strong communication and advocacy skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
