Job Title: Laboratory Technician

About the Role:

As a Laboratory Technician at Imerys, you will provide support to the Microscopy Area Supervisor in carrying out analytical approved test methods and reporting results to customers. Your responsibilities will include following daily and weekly instrument checks, calibration procedures, quality control sample monitoring, and preparing approved test methods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify instrument performance issues and rectify them in consultation with management, reporting non-conformities and deviating samples.
  • Contribute to the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and other laboratory accreditation of the Analytical Section.
  • Perform experiments at laboratory scale following a programme set by the Laboratory Manager.
  • Contribute to the safe operation of the team by following health and safety guidelines agreed with the Laboratory Manager.
  • Identify mechanisms to improve performance by reporting unsafe conditions and health and safety related incidents.
  • Follow approved guidelines on the safe use and storage of chemicals.
  • Manage your own workload and collaborate with co-workers and the Microscopy Laboratory Manager in maintaining steady turnaround times for requested work.
  • Contribute to the documentation of new analytical test methods.

Requirements:
  • 5 GCSEs Grade C or above, NVQ level 3 or A level in a relevant subject, or equivalent.
  • Must be able to work within a laboratory environment, including the safe use of laboratory equipment and chemicals knowledge.
  • Basic spreadsheet and word document skills (MS Office and/or Google Docs/Sheets).
  • Attention to Detail Use of Lims.
