Job Description

Job Title: Psychology or Sociology Graduate - Learning Support Assistant

Job Type: Full-time

Location: South London

Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Psychology or Sociology Graduate to join our team as a Learning Support Assistant. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a mainstream secondary school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with various learning difficulties and disabilities
  • Engage and support students in a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized learning plans
  • Supervise and manage student behavior, using positive reinforcement techniques and de-escalation strategies as needed
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on best practices and policies

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree in Psychology or Sociology
  • Experience working with students with SEND or learning difficulties
  • Ability to stay calm and de-escalate challenging behavior
  • Valid DBS registration or willingness to apply for a new one
  • Availability to commit to at least 4 months, with a minimum of 3-5 days per week
