About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Bank Chef to join our team at Thornford Park Hospital, a 130-bedded independent hospital providing medium and low secure Forensic Mental Health Services. As a Bank Chef, you will play a vital role in crafting daily meals for service users, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, maintaining good food storage procedures and stock rotation.
  • Prepare, plan, and cook meals to a consistently high standard, taking account of special requests or dietary requirements.
  • Serve food and beverages in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Participate in food costings through effective cost control procedures.
  • Adhere to 'Safer Food Better Business' standards and record keeping.
  • Take full shift responsibility for the catering operation.
  • Assist the Head Chef in researching and creating new menus, ensuring meals meet healthy eating guidelines.

Requirements

  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Hold GCSE or equivalent English.
  • Have City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking.
  • Basic Food Hygiene certification.
  • Supervising qualification or working towards.
  • Experience preparing and producing quality food to a high standard.
  • Knowledge of menu planning and costing.
  • Previous experience in delivering a service on mass.
