Teaching Assistant - Specialist SupportAbout the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Polaris Education. As a Specialist Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with SEMH difficulties and complex needs. Your expertise and experience will help create a safe and nurturing environment where our pupils can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one support to a small group of pupils, developing positive relationships and promoting engagement
  • Support the Classroom Teacher during lessons, contributing to planning and preparation
  • Report on pupils' progress and concerns, collaborating with School staff to ensure needs are met
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips
  • Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation, setting work where appropriate and marking
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, driving interaction and positive learning outcomes

Requirements

  • Strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably with SEN pupils
  • Experience of behaviour management and techniques
  • Committed to professional development and willing to learn
  • Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check
