We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Commissioning Engineer to join our Energy Business team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for testing and commissioning electrical transmission Substation Control Systems (SCS) from minor modifications to complete replacements.

This role is ideal for experienced Commissioning Engineers or Test Engineers looking to move into site commissioning activities. You will have a good understanding of system engineering design and be prepared to lead site visits for installation and commissioning work.

As a Senior Commissioning Engineer, you will contribute to the creation and development of test and commissioning documentation. You will also be required to deploy configuration files to SCADA BCU's, RTU's, IED's, etc., and Network devices (Ethernet Switches, etc.).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out site acceptance testing/commissioning activities in line with approved test documentation
  • Providing technical supervision of installation works on client sites
  • Ensuring work is carried out in line with agreed technical procedures, methods, and standards
  • Collating and managing the project commissioning file
  • Marking up drawings and schematics where changes are identified through test and commissioning activities
  • Involvement in the creation and preparation of commissioning/test documentation

Requirements include:

  • Suitably qualified or experienced in an Electrical Engineering discipline
  • Good understanding of Test/Commissioning techniques
  • Experience in fault finding on electrical/electronic systems
  • Understanding of communication networks and differing communication protocols and media types
  • Knowledge of electrical safety and the control of isolations (LOTO)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation production
  • Experience in the deployment of configuration files and verification to electrical devices
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly motivated and methodical individual
  • Ability to lead or work as part of a team

Certifications and standards include:

  • Hold a current full driving licence (UK or be able to easily convert to full UK)
  • Additional certifications such as BS7671 18th Edition, C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing, and National Grid Commissioning Passport are desirable
