Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver tailored lessons to meet the individual needs of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with support staff and specialists.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment that promotes both academic and personal growth.
  • Assess and track student progress, adjusting teaching methods as necessary to ensure all students can succeed.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, support staff, and external professionals to provide a comprehensive support system for each student.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies, ensuring a calm and conducive learning environment.
  • Liaise with parents and carers, providing regular updates on student progress and addressing any concerns.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and development opportunities to stay up-to-date with best practices in SEND education.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience working with children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Strong understanding of individual education plans (IEPs) and the ability to differentiate lessons for diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively and create a positive learning environment.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Flexibility, patience, and a passion for supporting the development of SEND students.
  • Knowledge of relevant SEND legislation and educational practices.
