Job Title: Head of Research and Development Design

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Head of Research and Development Design to join our team at Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading our R&D Design team and driving the development of our test capability to meet the demands of our Engineering Group.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the R&D Design team and take direct line management of two team leaders.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve our in-house Research and Development capability.
  • Design and deliver new testing technologies and infrastructure to support car performance and reliability improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our test capability meets the needs of our Engineering Group.
  • Champion the importance of data quality within our test facilities and drive Right-First-Time decisions.
Requirements:
  • Engineering or physics degree, or equivalent qualification(s).
  • Mechanical design experience to a level where you can approve the output of a design team on safety-critical components.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a high-performance engineering environment.
  • Ability to collaborate and negotiate to deliver results across different departments.
  • Proven ability to take the initiative and adapt quickly to change.
