Chief of Medical Staff

This role is based in East Croydon, a 12-minute train ride from London Bridge or a 15-minute train ride from Victoria. The position is fully office-based.

We are seeking an operational powerhouse to join the CEO's office as Chief of Staff for the Pension Protection Fund. As Chief of Staff, you will be a pivotal part of the leadership team, driving commercial success and ensuring the daily running of the business. You will report directly to the CEO and manage key stakeholder relationships, including liaison with government officials. Additionally, you will be responsible for line-managing a small team based in the CEO's office.

This is a dynamic leadership role that will allow you to make a significant impact. Your duties will include:

  • Operating as a trusted advisor and providing critical support to the CEO, handling situations on their behalf, and demonstrating exemplary judgment and diplomacy.
  • Facilitating business between the business and senior stakeholders.
  • Working closely with policy specialists to ensure key messages and communications are prepared.
  • Collaborating with the communications team to prepare internal and external communications on behalf of the CEO.
  • Attending meetings with the CEO and representing them when necessary, making decisions on their behalf.
  • Supporting the CEO in executing their key accountabilities.
  • Ensuring the board and executive committee have the necessary information to make informed decisions.
  • Tracking decisions and action points in meetings.
  • Working closely with the CEO to make strategic decisions, plans, and performance monitoring.
  • Managing the daily running of the CEO's office, including overseeing the office budget.
  • Acting as a key liaison between the board and the CEO's office.

We are looking for a candidate with experience working within the pensions industry, perhaps as another Chief of Staff, Managing Director, or operational role.

Person Specification:

  • Pension industry experience is a non-negotiable.
  • Proven track record in working with senior executives, C-suite, and board executives.
  • Strong communication skills, expert diplomacy, and discretion.
  • People management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate complex information into meaningful company and management communication.
  • Excellent written and research skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight time frames.
