About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Heritage Consultancy to lead our Consultancy team, providing strategic guidance and expertise in heritage consultancy work. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success in managing teams and delivering projects against tight deadlines.

The role offers a competitive salary of £45,000 - £50,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, and a range of benefits including a comprehensive pension scheme, life assurance cover, and 28 days annual leave.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading the Consultancy team to deliver high-quality consultancy services and documents
  • Managing and growing the consultancy team, including project and people management
  • Developing and implementing quality assurance processes to ensure high standards of work
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, including historic environment curators and planning authorities
Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Delivering high-quality consultancy services and documents, including ES chapters, WSIs, schemes of work, heritage statements, setting studies, and other reports
  • Line managing the Consultancy Team, including project and people management, setting goals, motivating, weekly reporting, time sheet auditing, identifying personal development needs, and appraisals
  • Quality assurance, report checking and editing of a wide range of Consultancy reports, including standing building surveys, DBA's, Setting Studies, ES chapters, and other reports
  • Illustrative and GIS work to support DBA's, Setting Studies, ES chapters, including willingness to learn, skills to understand setting and visualisation studies
  • Help market/network for the company and generate new work, win projects, and liaise with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders
  • Adopt, enact, and actively promote the company's vision, mission, and culture
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in archaeology or a related field, and significant experience in heritage consultancy work
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience of managing teams and delivering projects against tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Proven experience of developing and implementing quality assurance processes
